Visual Fields WHAT ARE VISUAL FIELDS? When
we talk of visual fields, we are referring to the side (peripheral)
vision one has while looking straight ahead.
By
measuring the extent and the intensity of one's visual field, many visual and
general health conditions can be detected. Some of these conditions are:
glaucoma, retinal detachments, retinal degeneration, optic neuritis, brain
tumors, toxic effects of ingested items, the cause of visual flashes and
floaters, and the visual field effects of traumatic and vascular cerebral and
ocular accidents. HOW IS THIS DONE? With the use of our new computer visual field testing instrument, you merely follow the red light. The computer will randomly flash small lights in your side vision. When this occurs, you simply push a button to tell the instrument that you were able to see the light and how many. It will tell you when you are not looking straight ahead and will retest all the points that you missed. When you have completed the test, it will print out your results. All of this is accomplished efficiently, painlessly, accurately, and reliable, with valid results. WHEN IS IT NECESSARY TO HAVE THIS
DONE? Because it has the
great potential to detect so many conditions, especially those which may not be
determined by other means, we have included a screening program in our general
examination procedure, without additional fee.
If special concerns or more elaborate studies are necessary, we can use
the versatile diagnostic capabilities of the automatic field plotter.
